Tomato-Canning Workshop August 30

2015_08_SlowFood_Tomato_CanningJoin Slow Food Des Moines​ and Grade A Gardens​ for a hands-on tomato-canning class on Sunday, August 30!

Learn how to turn the summer’s tomato bounty into a delicious pantry staple for your cold-weather cooking. Home-canned tomatoes make a perfect base for soups, stews and casseroles (and don’t forget their vital role in the Sunday brunch staple, the Bloody Mary cocktail).

The tomato workshop costs $60 per person, and each workshop participant will get to take home 10 – 12 quart jars of tomatoes.

Heirloom_Baby_TomatoesThe proceeds from this class will go towards Slow Food Des Moines’ future 2016 projects (thank you for your support of our organization!).

Space constraints mean the workshop is limited to only twelve participants.  Call Kari, the event organizer, at 515-771-5886 to reserve your place at the kitchen table.
