Fall is here — time to enjoy the bounty!
Sunday, October 1st, we are celebrating this year’s harvest at Slow Food Des Moines’ autumn potluck at Walnut Woods Lodge.
Bring a dish to share, along with your own plates and utensils. And of course, it’s fine to BYOB…
The annual Harvest Potluck is a great opportunity to share some of your favorite dishes with friends (and also to get some ideas about what to do with that bounty of late-season garden produce).
Date and Time: Sunday, October 1, 4 – 6PM
Location: The lodge at Walnut Woods State Park, 3155 Walnut Woods Drive, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265
Come early; stay late. Also take advantage of this beautiful park, bring your hiking boots and explore. Just minutes from town, but with the remoteness that feels like being far out in the country, Walnut Woods State Park encompasses 260 acres of wooded bottom land along the Raccoon River. Within the park lies a large surviving natural stand of black walnut trees, great for bird- and wildlife-watching. The park has two and a half miles of walking trails, fishing (from the shoreline or bring your boat – there’s a boat launch), and even equestrian trails.
Please follow the Harvest Potluck event page on Facebook in case there are any last-minute updates or changes.
Many thanks to Matt Butler for the beautiful event poster.
